What is the SUN Fund for?
The purpose of the SUN Fund is to improve and enrich the quality of life for residents of Charlevoix County. Qualifying agencies may apply at any time of the year, providing they have discussed their proposal first with a program officer. The purpose of the fund is twofold—to fill an unexpected or emergency need that occurs between the Foundation’s regular grant cycles with deadlines of March 1 and October 1 of each year, and/or to consider requests totaling $1,000.00 or less.
Who is eligible?
Tax-exempt nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and municipalities serving residents of Charlevoix County are generally eligible for SUN Fund support. Fundable organizations must be current with final reports for all previous grant awards, and be in good standing with the IRS.
Grant requests of $1,000.00 or less will be considered.
Steps to Follow
1. Contact a program officer to obtain permission to submit an application.
2. Complete and submit the one page application form, which is available from the program officer.
Evaluation and Award
Based on the availability of funds and the merit of the proposal, successful applicants will receive funding in the form of a grant check within two weeks of the date of application. Funds must be utilized in the manner described in the application within six (6) months of the date of the grant award. Any unused grant dollars will be returned to the Fund.
Organizations receiving support from the SUN Fund will be required to complete a brief final report that addresses the following questions:
1. Was the project successful (why or why not)?
2. How did the community benefit from this grant?
For a purchase of equipment, organizations must provide a copy of the invoice to CCCF.
