Administrative Endowment Turns 25

There are many ways to make a difference in your community. One of the easiest and most lasting ways is to make a gift to the Charlevoix County Community Foundation. For the last two and a half decades, the Community Foundation has impacted communities in Charlevoix County with grant funding for projects to improve the quality of life for everyone, with scholarships to send young people off to bright futures, and by helping donors make a difference close to home.

But how do we do it?  Each fund managed by the Community Foundation provides charitable resources in our community, but one special fund called the Robert G. Tambellini Administrative Endowment supports those who do the work of our other funds.  Started 25 years ago by Community Foundation founders, the Administrative Endowment contributes to operating costs.  In other words, instead of spending staff time fundraising to pay expenses, we are free to partner with donors to impact areas they care about most and with nonprofit organizations working to improve our communities.

Former trustee Bruce Herbert once said about the Administrative Fund: “that’s the heart of the organization and the part that has to work for everything else to happen.” Bruce and his wife Joyce, also a former trustee were early donors to the Administrative Endowment.  People like them have made it possible for the Community Foundation to grow and keep pace with our community’s needs over the last two and a half decades.
