Bruce and Barbara MacArthur

Bruce and Barbara were longtime visitors to Charlevoix before they moved permanently in 1979.  In the years that followed, this pair worked to improve the town for the better.  They were founding members of Keep Charlevoix Beautiful, responsible for the signature petunias that line the streets of Charlevoix all summer long.  Bruce dedicated much time and energy to the Charlevoix Area Community Pool.  Barbara was busy with the Charlevoix Shade Tree Commission and Charlevoix Area Garden Club.

Although Bruce and Barbara are both gone now, their legacies live on: Bruce leaves behind a designated fund that provides each year for the Charlevoix Area Community Pool to support its mission; the Barbara G. MacArthur Fund for Charlevoix provides flexible dollars for making a difference in the place she loved.  The MacArthurs’ legacy lives on in another way as well:  Charlevoix holds a special place in the hearts of their four daughters and five grandchildren.
