YACers Visit Valuable Nonprofit Partners
The Youth Advisory Committee recently made a trip around the county to see firsthand some of the non-profit organizations that they funded in recent grant cycles. The YAC members enjoyed seeing for themselves the valuable programs that benefit Charlevoix County young people. This day trip included stops at Create Community Arts Studio, Northern Michigan Equine Therapy, Camp Daggett, and Good Samaritan Family Services.
The Youth Fund was established to benefit youth projects within Charlevoix County with direction from the Youth Advisory Council (YAC). The YAC is made up of area teens who represent other young people when considering grant requests from local nonprofit organizations, schools, and municipalities. The experience for these youth grant-makers is a positive one, and one that the Community Foundation is proud to offer in Charlevoix County.
Because the Youth Fund is endowed, it will continue to grow and provide grant dollars for these kinds of programs and projects and more, both now and into the future. Contributions to the Youth Fund join together, resulting in greater impact for this community we love.
