Fred and Barbara Malpass
Fred Malpass grew up in East Jordan and Barb is from Petoskey. They’re lifelong residents of the area, but they don’t take this beautiful place for granted. Like many of us, Fred and Barb appreciate the lakes, rivers, woods, and wildlife in Charlevoix County. “It’s also the people – the great, down-to-earth people – that make it home,” notes Fred.
The couple has been involved with the Community Foundation from the start: both have served on the Board of Trustees and other committees, sharing their time and expertise. They also have a C3F Donor Advised Fund, allowing the Community Foundation to support their personal philanthropy. “We think [C3F] is a wonderful organization,” explains Barb; “a resource for meeting many needs in the community.” Fred adds, “the funds are well-managed, and the staff are connected to what’s going on in the community.”
When asked why they give, Fred shares their belief in giving back to the community. “We feel it is very important to give back, especially helping people, projects, and organizations that are close to home.”
