Beaver Island Community School - to replace an outdoor basketball and multi-sport court at BICS
BICS is asking for help to demolish and remove the 35 year old outdoor basketball court and to construct a new one. The court will be open to the public and visitors to Beaver Island as well.
Challenge Mountain - for Phase 2 ski area/lodge improvements
Challenge Mountain will build internal fund development skills necessary to implement Phase 2 of their strategic plan. Funds will be raised to install snow-making equipment, purchase a groomer and build a pole barn at the ski hill.
Charlevoix Area Community Pool - to update pool surveillance & security system
Renovations of the CACP lobby, work areas, new multipurpose room and men’s and women’s locker rooms are now being completed. The current surveillance system and electrical components need updating to provide coverage for all areas, and upgrade safety and security to meet modern standards.
Alzheimer's Association Greater Michigan Chapter - for a Dementia support and education initiative
This grant will provide community members in rural areas with information regarding Alzheimer’s disease. The purpose is to increase awareness & to connect families/caregivers with resources and services.
Arts and Culture
Beaver Island Music Festival Inc. - to enhance 3+ recreational & cultural events with live music
BIMF will use grant dollars to provide live music at 3 existing the Beaver Island events--The Birding Festival; The Eco-Fair; and The Beaver Island Run.
Charlevoix Circle of Arts - to extend marketing for the Dorothy Gerber Strings Program
The DGSP is requesting help to increase marketing efforts including acquiring promotional videos, purchasing branded items and presentation equipment. These items will be used at demonstrations in schools, on social media and at community presentations.
Charlevoix Historical Society - for historic interpretive signage in Charlevoix
The CHS plans to install 7 signs designed for compatibility with the Cvx Main Street signs. Each sign will have four to six historic images on each side, with accompanying text. This request is to fund one, two-sided sign along the channel and one, two-sided sign at the Train Depot.
Charlevoix Area Humane Society - to purchase two cat condos
The Humane Society would like to purchase two cat condos, one to replace the unit that is old and another to increase the shelter's capacity by 40 cats. This would provide a safe and healthy living experience for an average of 180 cats annually.
