beaver island district library - new computers
With recent support from a Community Priorities grant, the Beaver Island District Library was able to purchase 4 new computers, which replaced public and staff computers as well as the circulation desk computer, all of which were old and outdated. The old computers were not thrown out, however. Instead, they were moved to create a new gaming space for kids! Adults and kids used to compete for computer time, but now, with the new computers, the library has effectively doubled its computer space and carved out unique spaces for the uses that patrons wanted. Sounds like a win-win to us! Funds also helped to support an upgrade in software and some cybersecurity resources and training for library staff. The library plans to continue offering cybersecurity resources and programming and even some coding classes as well.
