Behind the Scenes with C3F and YAC - Youth Leadership Conference

The conference, created by the Michigan Community Foundations’ Youth Project (MCFYP) Committee, brings together Youth Advisory Committees (YACs) from across the state to learn and grow together. The year’s conference theme, Level Up: Inspiring Change, is a tribute to the ways YACers continually grow and strengthen their work as well as their relationships with each other and local partners on the ground, all in service to their communities.

Bella Wise, Junior from East Jordan High School and incoming Treasurer on the YAC Executive Committee, attended the conference with YAC Advisor Megan. Bella shared, “I developed confidence and leadership skills from the conference. I want to continue the inclusiveness of our YAC and spread it for many years to come. The conference has given me many ideas on how I can improve the life of the youth and incorporate youth voice into my community.”

Activities included multiple breakout sessions, a life-sized board game about philanthropy, a group community service project, a poverty simulation, arcade and laser tag fun, and time to reflect and bring it all back to our YAC. A bonus for C3F was supporting and honoring YAC alum, Camden Carey, in his final year on the MCFYP Committee.
