Boyne Citizen - Operational Support

The importance of public access to factual information in today’s world cannot be overstated. But it can be difficult for those in rural communities to access all the facts from various meetings and goings-on within them. Lucky for us, the Boyne Citizen News, based in Boyne City, is working hard to deliver unbiased news and information with journalistic integrity to their subscribers each week. The e-newsletter style publication is delivered straight to email inboxes on Thursdays and includes loads of stories about what’s going on in Boyne City and the surrounding areas - from Commission meetings, township meetings, County meetings, and even local community events. It’s a great resource for our community and we are so proud to have supported the work of this organization through recent Geographic Enrichment and Community Priorities grants. Those grants helped the organization to pay writers and editorial staff – the main way their work gets done. Founding board member, Michelle Cortright shared that the grants were, “instrumental in our hiring of a full-time Associate Editor. Because of the grants, we have been able to expand our coverage both geographically and in terms of depth of news coverage.” Keep up the great work, Boyne Citizen!
