Charlevoix Circle of Arts - Big and Small exhibition
A recent Arts & Culture grant supported the Charlevoix Circle of Arts fall 2025 exhibition, Big and Small, which was a well-received and engaging visual arts experience that invited visitors to explore the impact of scale in art. The exhibit featured work by 20 Michigan artists and welcomed approximately 900 visitors, including several student field trips, demonstrating strong community interest and educational reach. By pairing monumental works with intricate miniatures, Big and Small encouraged viewers to slow down, look closely, and reflect on how size influences perception, detail, and artistic impact. Visitor feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with comments such as “A varied and interesting exhibition!”, “Loving the contrasts!”, and “So amazing! We love the mini canvas on tiny gallery walls,” highlighting the exhibit’s ability to delight, surprise, and resonate with audiences. As with all CCA exhibits, Big and Small was free and open to the public six days per week, ensuring broad access to high-quality visual art regardless of financial means. CCA incorporated family-friendly engagement opportunities such as a children’s scavenger hunt and “take-and-make” art projects, which encouraged hands-on exploration and made the experience accessible to younger audiences and families.
