Child and Family Services of Northwest Michigan Foster Family Recruitment

When a child needs foster care, every effort is made to keep the child as close to home as possible to reduce trauma. However, when there are no foster homes available in the child’s home county, they must be placed in another county, which uproots the child from their school, their friends, and everything familiar to them. There is still a need for licensed foster homes in Charlevoix County, but CFS was pleased to report recently that they now have 4 homes licensed for foster care in our county, which is one more than they had last year! It’s this kind of incremental progress that we know pays dividends in the life of a child when they are in need of foster care.
