Conservation Resource Alliance - stream crossing upgrades

It’s hard to overstate the beauty of the Jordan River Valley. This 18,000-acre stretch of state-owned forest is one of Northern Michigan’s most treasured landscapes, with the serene Jordan River meandering through its heart. With support from multiple C3F Environment grants to the Conservation Resource Alliance - CRA, three major stream-crossing upgrades reached completion, marking a significant milestone for the Jordan River watershed. The final two undersized structures on the river’s mainstem, at Jordan River Road East and West, have been replaced with stately, channel-spanning timber bridges. A third crossing at Deer Creek, one of the Jordan’s key tributaries where the stream flows under Fuller Road, has undergone the same transformation. These new bridges do more than improve infrastructure - they remove long-standing barriers to fish passage, curb erosion and sedimentation, and restore natural stream flow. Thanks to donors to our Ethel Coeling Environmental Fund our C3F Environment Grant Cycle will continue to support this kind of work year after year.
