East Jordan Public Schools Local Author Visits

This idea all started with one elementary student, Beatrice. Beatrice was interested in sea turtles and with the help of her STEM teacher at the time, Mrs. Roche, she was able to read a true story about a sea turtle by Lindsay Moore. From this occurrence, Beatrice wanted to read more of Lindsay Moore's books and came up with the idea to share her love of her with the entire school. Beatrice helped write the grant and secure this opportunity for her peers. The grant award allowed EJPS to provide two assemblies for K-3 and 4-6 graders, purchase some of Lindsay Moore's books for giveaways, and purchase her books for their school library. Lindsay was able to share her story of her path to becoming an author and share one of her new books, “Sun Bird.” We think Beatrice might be a future YAC candidate!
