Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore Program Support

Thanks to a 2024 Youth Needs grant awarded by the C3F Youth Advisory Committee, 146 girls and their families benefited from expanded Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore programming and support. Grant funds helped remove financial barriers for eight local families by providing financial aid for membership and uniforms. Last year, 21 new Girl Scouts joined from households at or below the county’s median income level, showing real progress in reaching families who have historically faced cost-related challenges. With dedicated staffing support, four new troops (two Daisy, one Brownie, and one multi-level) contributed to an overall membership increase including a notable jump among 5th graders (from 6 to 20 girls). Girls also participated in dynamic, hands-on programs across all four pillars of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Highlights included a rock climbing and yoga challenge at Camp Daggett, a heritage awareness project using ground-penetrating radar with local historical partners, a mystery-themed “Bear Hunt” in Boyne City involving 57 Girl Scouts, a service project supporting the Charlevoix Area Humane Society, and a Girl Scout Day at Hungry Ducks Adventure Farm. These experiences helped girls build confidence, teamwork, problem-solving skills, and a sense of belonging in their community.
