village of boyne falls - Dam Feasibility Study

Because of the contribution from C3F, the Village and the Conservation Resource Alliance - CRA were able to hire an experienced engineering firm, GEI Consultants, Inc., to complete the feasibility study. CRA, Village and GEI staff met on site to discuss the project and then CRA and the engineers spent a few days collecting data including bathymetry, topographic survey, sediment samples and stream morphology information. Following the data collection effort, GEI provided project partners with an Existing Conditions Data Report that included a summary of the desktop analysis, field investigations, river survey, and wetland delineation. The wetland delineation will be a key focus moving forward, and initiated conversations with EGLE that lay the foundation for the permitting process moving forward with the project. Engineers also developed 3 conceptual designs for the project site using the data collected as well as feedback from project partners. This data and the resulting concepts will continue to set the stage as decisions are made about how to proceed with the project. Stay tuned!
