Susan Creek Nature Preserve

April 13, 2018

It may still be snowing here in northern Michigan , but the Little Traverse Conservancy’s Susan Creek Nature Preserve is now better-equipped to welcome visitors in any season, thanks to a series of grants from the Community Foundation.  The 314-acre Preserve is located on US-31, just a few miles outside of Charlevoix, across from the Little Traverse Wheelway.  The improved U-shaped parking area allows for greater use of the Preserve with seven parking spots and can now accommodate school busses as well.  More recently, the trails were improved within the Preserve.  In partnership with the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians, Conservancy staff and volunteers added a new section of boardwalk, signage, and footbridges.  Check out this time-lapsed video: the log across the Creek worked, but the footbridge is a big improvement!
