Grateful in a Time of Challenge
Grateful in a time of challenge
Because of caring and generous donors, the Community Foundation responds when our communities need support. Many people responded to the COVID-19 crisis with genuine concern for others. Those who gave through the Community Foundation made it possible to provide over $150,000 for organizations serving families and friends in need in just a few months. We know that many people also gave directly to organizations they care about most during this time and made a difference for our struggling neighbors.
Because of donors who care, the Community Foundation has resources that to help sustain those valuable nonprofit partners with operating grants, too. You might be surprised to learn that nonprofit organizations employ 1 in 10 Michiganders – we expect that this figure is true locally as well. Nonprofits have stepped up to care for more friends and neighbors in need during the COVID-19 crisis. For decades, these nonprofits have cared for those who are vulnerable or less fortunate. Nonprofits like schools and cities provide so much for each of our communities. Nonprofits protect, restore, and provide safe access to our beloved lakes, rivers, beaches, forests, and fields. Nonprofits have inspired generations with music, dance, art, stories, and shared experiences. Dedicated nonprofits help to make this place so much more than just a place.
As consequences of the pandemic are felt throughout the community, we have had even more opportunity to see the generosity and kindness that exists here, close to home. We are grateful for the people of this community and rain or shine there is no place we’d rather be.
